Revelation Blessed Peace Church’s Bishop Temba Pema says Christians should ensure peace prevails during the pre-election period and on election day - October 23.

Bishop Pema made the remarks when officiating at the church’s women’s ministry conference in Maun recently.

He said Christians must desist from political humiliations, but should rather be exemplary through mediation to bring peace.

Urging Christians to exercise their right to vote, the bishop said the church, as an institution, had a major role to play in the country’s  democracy.

The women’s ministry, as mothers, he said should encourage children to also exercise their democratic right to vote and to do so peacefully.

Revelation Blessed Peace Church was formed in 1976 in the central region and has since spread to other parts of the country.

He said the church upheld the health and wellbeing of one by another as well as compassion had relationships with other organisations that promote Christianity and health such as Botswana Council of Churches and Botswana Christian AIDS Intervention Programme.

Naga Safaris director, Mr Kenson Kgaga, who is also councillor for Senonnori ward in Maun, urged Christians to desist from politics of harm.

He said Christianity and politics were similar in that they advocated to set people free from the devil and from oppression respectively.

Mr Kgaga, who is also a senior minister at Faith Gospel After Christ, said the women’s ministry was an integral part of the church as it played a major role in raising funds and in ensuring the church’s growth.

He thus encouraged the women to instill discipline and compassion in children. Ends
