Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Culture Development Mr Dikgang Makgalemele has urged parents in Borolong to support the youth in businesses.
Addressing a kgotla meeting recently, Mr Makgalemele said parents participation was significant to the expansion of youth businesses.
He said the youth had capabilities, therefore being empowered would help in boosting the country’s economy and that of the communities, saying youth were innovative, educated and energetic to better the growth of the society.
“Youth empowerment is possible if we all give them the support,” he said.
Mr Makgalemele also encouraged the youth to utilise government programmes.
On another note he urged the youth in various villages to partner in addressing their common challenges while applauding the success of youth businesses in the area.
He said government was looking for more opportunities for the youth.
The assistant minister apologised for delay in constructing the stadium in Good Hope, but indicated that it was at a tendering stage.
He said construction would start next year.
Residents decried the process of applying for the youth fund, which they said was long and needed to be reviewed. ENDS
