Border post acquires caravans

04 Sep 2019

Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Mr Ngaka Ngaka has told residents of Tshidilamolomo that new caravan facilities are to be installed as part of the development at the border post.

Speaking on Monday during a kgotla meeting, Minister Ngaka indicated that the process of constructing the facilities was at a tendering stage, adding that  after accessing their requests, the ministry realised the need to assist so that residents were able to cross the border without any hindrances.

On another point, Minister Ngaka advised children born between locals and foreigners to renounce either of their citizenships at the age of 21. He said the government had realised that they were people who had not yet renounced their citizenships, therefore he urged them to visit the immigration offices so that they could be assisted.

He said if someone had reached 21 years and had not renounced their citizenship, they could still visit the offices and rectify the matter. On other issues, Minister Ngaka advised them to keep their national identity card safe so that they could vote in the 2019 general elections.

Residents thanked the minister for the new facilities.  They indicated that they would also help them to cross the border legally.

They also thanked him for educating them on citizenship and other processes.ends
