Entrepreneur develops cell phone use limiting gadget

Cell phones have made life a lot easier as one can communicate whenever, wherever.
However, they have the potential to control people’s lives and make them lose out on what happens in the moment and to lose out on building lasting memories and experiences, if they are used without control.
Muzzlr Director, Mr Benzi Nsinamwa observed in an interview with BOPA that it has become quite hard for people to focus, and build one on one relationship that require face to face as well as time to build more meaningful engagements.
Mr Nsinamwa said people needed to develop social skills first but it becomes difficult to the point where people in the same room fail to connect with each other, but they all focus on their gadgets.
In this regard, he said they have come up with a product; Muzzlr, which aims at helping promote mindful experiences, sensations and feelings of being in the moment.
Muzzlr is a product that inhibits cellphone use to eliminate distractions and promotes full engagement of individuals, be it at educational facilities, private events or workshops.
“Individuals are given an opportunity to fully benefit as participants or given at events as guests,” Mr Nsinamwa said.
He said the product can be rented or purchased; with the purchasing option depended on the number required.
He said arrangements can be made to customise the pouches to the corporate colours and logos of an organisation
“Through the use of the patented system, we are able to turn space into a phone free environment for organisations, individuals, events, weddings, schools, churches and so much more,” he explained.
Mr Nsinamwa also highlighted that during events such as conferences and workshops, ushers setup a phone-free zone, where guests would have their mobile phones locked and unlocked from the pouches.
He said that guests can still keep their phones on them at all times but locked inside the pouch.
“Phones may be unlocked during the course of the event for various reasons, such as if someone needs to make a call, or during tea/lunch breaks, and at the end of the event,” he said.
He cited an example of a recent event; Mrs Botswana 2018/2019 where all the guests attending the event had their phones put into the pouches.
“It was incredible to see people following speaker by speaker, sharing in applause and laughing when the moment called for laughter,” he said.
One of the speakers said he could actually sense that this particular audience was paying more than the usual attention to his speech.
He said that after establishing the number of pouches needed for a particular event, arrangements are made to bring the number of pouches corresponding with the requested number of users.
He pleaded with the public and organisations to use the product at places of mass gatherings. ENDS
