More gives Prisons victory
02 Sep 2019
Centre-back, Percy More, scored a brace on Saturday afternoon to give Prisons XI a 2-1 victory over BR Highlanders at start of the 2019/20 BTC Premiership campaign in Lobatse.
The Warders dominated the first half with Martin Apolot and Tshwarelo Mojanaga controlling the midfield.
Apolot came close to opening the scoring sheet with a cracking shot from the edge of the penalty area in the sixth minute.
The Warders continued pressing forward and took a deserved lead three minutes later when More powered in a header from a well-taken corner-kick by Tumo Keiketlile.
The centre-back, who recently made his switch to Prisons permanent after spending last season on loan from Township Rollers, doubled the lead in the 29th minute.
Tabona Ntlogelang flicked a cross from Molefe onto the path of the onrushing More, who calmly stroked the ball past Highlanders debutant goalkeeper, Michael Pepukani.
Prisons could have added more goals before halftime, but defender, Matengu sent a header over the cross bar from an inviting position, while Pepukani pulled off a brilliant save to prevent More from completing a hat trick after the defender connected with a pass from Mokuye Shakambayo.
Highlanders produced a stronger fight in the second half after coach Blessing Moyo introduced the attacking trio of Lynoth Chikuhwa, Onkokame Motse and Kealeboga Oitsile.
They came on for Ototeng Dintwa, Brian Kobe and Bame Morwalela who failed to click in the first half.
The Mahalapye team reduced the deficit when Chikuhwa scored in his first league match for Highlanders after his off-season arrival from Miscellaneous.
Under pressure from the defence, the striker controlled a high ball into the penalty area with the chest and beat Prisons goalkeeper Ontiretse Gaotlhobogwe in the 82nd minute. ENDS
