Maun police are investigating an accident in which the woman and a ten-year-old child died on the spot along Thamalakane Bridge around 720pm yesterday.

Another child, aged 12, sustained head injuries and has been referred to Princess Marina Hospital.

Police said the accident involved a BMW and an Alteza which had three passengers, a woman aged 38 and her two children aged 10 and 12.

According to Senior Superintendent Kgomo, the driver of the BMW, a police officer, was heading towards town, seemingly lost control and hit the oncoming Alteza.

The driver of the BMW sustained a fractured leg and is admitted at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.

Senior Superintendent Kgomo said the names of the deceased were still withheld while blood samples have been taken from the BMW driver to establish his fitness to drive. Ends
