26 Aug 2019

Kanye Administrative Authority Sub-council chairperson Mr Tlhomamo Dibeela has thanked councillors for having worked as team in the last five years.

Mr Dibeela, who was said bidding councillors farewell at Tomela Council Chambers in Kanye recently expressed appreciation that they achieved a lot during the term despite limited resources.

Mr Dibeela argued that developments in the sub-district should not only be measured by buildings but by the quality of leaders it continued to produce.

He said there were challenges along the way but his colleagues put in hard work to make things easy for him, regardless of party affiliations.

As a result, he shared that some council departments had since improved, while others despite the support remained stagnant.

He advised heads of departments to find ways to inspire low performers to work hard adding that performance should be measured by output.

He further argued that rewarding good performance reinforced the culture and motivated staff.

Mr Dibeela awarded certificates of appreciation to councillors for among others, the best improved in terms of participation in council discussions, most disciplined and most punctual.

He also wished all members who would be contesting for the next general election good luck and requested them to exercise restraint during the electioneering period.

For his part, KAA deputy district commissioner Mr Balume Bulayani thanked the councillors for having worked amicably with public servants.

He also applauded Mr Dibeela for being a good leader, adding that he was both approachable, flexible and accommodating.

He said the feedback they had been getting from councillors helped them improve the quality of service they provided. Ends
