Dr Dow attends TICAD 7 summit

Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Dr Unity Dow’s visit to Hanoi, Vietnam will enhance bilateral relations and aid the perspectives on ways of cultivating strategic partnerships between the two countries.
The press release from the ministry states that the visit starts on August 25 and will end on August 27
While in Vietnam, Minister Dow will engage Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr Pham Bihn Mihn.
The release also states that the visit will further afford the two countries an opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral and international interest, as well as cooperation in the areas of development such as education, health, tourism and wildlife management.
Subsequent to her visit to Vietnam, Dr Dow will proceed to Yokohama, Japan to participate in the Seventh Summit of the Tokyo International Conference on Africa Development (TICAD VII) scheduled for August 28 to 29. Themed: Advancing Africa’s Development through People, Technology and Innovation.
The summit will be preceded by senior officials and ministerial meetings on August 26 to 27.
“The summit will review progress achieved on the implementation of commitments under the three TICAD pillars which are accelerating economic transformation and improving the business environment through innovation and private sector, deepening sustainable and resilient society, and strengthening peace and stability.
“The summit will deliberate on the private sector as a driver of economic development, digital transformation as a catalyst for development, and human-centered development with a focus on youth and women entrepreneurship.”
Botswana will also have a business delegation participating at the business forum, the Japan - Africa Business Expo which will be held on the margins of the summit. At the TICAD summit, Dr Dow will be accompanied by the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Ms Bogolo Kenewendo and senior government officials.
Dr Dow is expected to return to Gaborone on September 1. ENDS
