Kasane police are investigating a murder incident in which a 56-year-old woman of Kgaphamadi ward in Kasane died following a fight with her 32-year- old boyfriend. 

The woman was certified dead on arrival at the hospital on August 20.

In an interview, Superintendent James Maabong said on the same day they received a report from a 32-year-old man of the same area around 11am that he fought with his girlfriend the previous night and the following morning the girlfriend did not wake up.

Supt Maabong said the man reported that during the fight he strangled the girlfriend with his bare hands following an argument, but they later slept together, only for the girlfriend not to wake up the following morning.

He said after receiving the report the police accompanied the suspect to the house and upon arrival they found the lifeless body of a woman, who was later certified dead on arrival at the Kasane Primary Hospital.

Supt Maabong said the body did not have any visible injuries and investigations on the matter were ongoing while the suspect was in police custody helping with further investigations. ENDS
