President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi has expressed the wish to turn Botswana into a multimedia country.

During the Steve Harvey town hall networking session at UB  sports arena on August 21, Dr Masisi said with the influence of people like visiting American media mogul, that was achievable.

Dr Masisi who expressed his passion and vision for the youth of Botswana, said he invited Steve Harvey to Botswana to help him realise his dream for better opportunities for Batswana. 

The President said he envisioned a knowledge-based economy for Botswana because he wished for the country’s youth to have success in their lifetime.

Young people, he said, were the best investment Botswana had, therefore there was need to transform them.

 Dr Masisi said with a young economy and population, Botswana had been under developed and therefore needed skills to broaden the economy.

He said with specialities  in various sectors and the right connections, the vision he had for Botswana was attainable. 

Dr Masisi said no matter how  educated and well traveled Batswana were, they still needed the best in the game to come and help the country get to the top and help the country achieve its vision for the youth.

The President said Harvey had been invited  to Botswana to unlock opportunities and find possibilities to invest in areas of his specialty as well as that of his friends who were also challenged to invest in Botswana.

For his part, Mr Harvey, said in his observation following a tour of the Mass Media Complex, Botswana had the talent and resources and only lacked content. 

He said if permitted, they were ready to bring in private sector money to produce television programmes in Botswana and create jobs.

Mr Harvey implored government to utilise the Mass Media Complex facilities to create jobs and opportunities.

His invitation is part of Dr Masisi’s ongoing initiatives to attract world renowned international investors to explore opportunities for facilitating the participation of Botswana youth in business.
