BTTA garners four years sponsorship

Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) has launched a four years sponsorship with Stag International on August 20.

According to the agreement, Stag will provide 24 sets of clothing every year for four years to the national team.

One set will include one tracksuit, four t-shirts, two shorts, two towels, three pairs of socks and one kit bag.

In addition, Stag will in every two years provide 60 surrounds, 60 dozens three star table tennis balls, 60 dozens training balls, 12 umpire tables, 12 score boards, ten regular I.T.T.F approved table tennis tables and two show court complete set.

All translate to monetary terms of P476 080, which BTTA will get from the sponsorship with Stag International, effective October 1, 2019 until September 30, 2023. However, Stag is open to discuss projects related to the development of table tennis in Botswana and it will provide 30 per cent discount on the price list for any purchase by the BTTA.

Unveiling the sponsorship, secretary of Commercial Affairs from the Indian High Commission, Satender Yadav said the sponsorship would help young Batswana players to have world class equipment required to compete in national and international table tennis competitions.

Yadav said Stag was an example of hard work, compassion and commitment to achieve the target set. He highlighted that Stag started with a small business 90 years back and now it was doing business with 202 countries.

Yadav said Stag’s commitment to society through vital support to BTTA and many more worldwide was remarkable.

Furthermore, Yadav on behalf of the Indian High Commission offered two ITEC Professional Courses, which will be fully funded by the government of India to BTTA. He also offered one long term undergraduate or postgraduate educational degree to help the young talented players from Botswana to nurture their skills and concurrently complete basic undergraduate or post graduate educational degree.

Meanwhile, the president of BTTA, Kudzanani Motswagole said the sponsorship represented a breakthrough of table tennis in the international arena.

He said it was all from the commitment and hard work from the table tennis family that ensured that they are today different from where they were yesterday.

Mr Motswagole challenged all table tennis stakeholders to be dedicated and work hard because it was now time to make a mark as a code, highlighting that they were no longer regarded as a small code. ENDS
