Autlwetse hails Pentecostal Holiness Church

The Pentecostal Holiness Church has been commended for its contribution to the peace and tranquillity prevailing in the country.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said government valued the contribution of the church in moulding the nation.
Officially opening the church’s northern region annual conference in Serowe recently, Mr Autlwetse said it was for this reason that the 2008 Kgosi Puso Commission, a joint venture between dikgosi and Botswana Christian Council, was commissioned to look into moral issues affecting society.
He said the commission placed the church at the centre of combating societal moral turpitude.
“It is therefore imperative that as you audit yourselves in the on-going conference you should also gauge your impact as a church in nation-building across the various facets of life, like deteriorating family institution, juvenile delinquency, drug abuse, murder, diseases, unemployment and democracy,” he said.
Mr Autlwetse, who is Serowe North MP encouraged members of Pentecostal Holiness Church to pray for a peaceful general election.
He said the country needed God-fearing leaders to move the country forward and urged them to exercise their right to vote in October.
He criticised churches which had turned into agents of the devil who defrauded and abandoned vulnerable children of God for purposes of self-enrichment using the word of God.
“Speak in one voice against this, because your track record as a church is untainte,’’ he said.
He said Pentecostal Holiness Church had a history dating back to 1972.
Mr Autlwetse explained that it was a track record that spoke volumes.
“The PHC National overseer, their church leaders across the two regions, south and north deserves commendation, 47 years of existence is indeed a godly blessing,’’ he said.
He said such an attribute of transparency had eluded many churches and tainted the word of God. ENDS
