Gare motivates pupils

It is important for pupils to be technology oriented and be a generation of achievers, Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Mr Karabo Gare has said.
Speaking at the prize giving ceremony of Nthwalang Junior Secondary School recently, Mr Gare also encouraged pupils to be civil minded, embrace millennial trends and further be innovative in order to survive the world.
“We are living in the fourth industrial revolution where the Internet, programmed machines and robots are taking over human’s working space so technology and behavioural trends cannot be ignored,” he said.
Again, he advised pupils to dream big, be focused and disciplined as well as well-behaved.
The assistant also encouraged the school management to ‘go beyond class book teaching because pupils needed to gain beyond class book intelligence.’
The school head, Ms Olebile Mokgweetsi, thanked the assistant minister for gracing the event.
Ms Mokgweetsi, however, expressed concern about the school’s low performance which she attributed to lack of electricity in the classrooms and hostels.
That, had nonetheless, since been addressed and was thus hopeful that results would improve.
She added that the school was also experiencing a high number of school dropouts, something she said needed utmost attention.
GetBucks deputy chief executive officer, who had also contributed P10 000 to the school’s prize giving, Mr Marshal Chimedzera also encouraged pupils to never give up on their dreams.
“Those who did not get any prize should not give up but to work hard change your story,” he said.
He also said their organisation embraced social responsibility and were thankful for supporting the school.
Meanwhile, the prize giving ceremony covered academics, athletics and teachers’ awards. ENDS
