Debswana Diamond Company managing director (MD), Mr Albert Milton, has died.

A press release from Debswana states that Mr Milton became sick while in Johannesburg yesterday and was admitted at hospital where he died earlier today.

He was appointed MD in December 2018. He joined the company in 1992 and held various positions throughout his career across the company’s mining operations and in leadership positions.

He was appointed general manager of Jwaneng Mine in 2013 and held posts as project manager at Venetia Mine and as general manager at Morupule Coal Mine from 2008 to 2013.

The press release says his focus was on the safety and well-being of the people that he led.

“The company chief financial officer, Lynette Armstrong, will act as MD until further notice,” the release states. ENDS
