Batshu kgosi plead with youth to apply for fund

15 Aug 2019

Kgosi Batshani Monyatsi of Nswazwi has complained that the youth did not utilise services meant to improve their lives.

Speaking during a kgotla meeting addressed by the Member of Parliament for Nkange, Mr Edwin Batshu, Kgosi Monyatsi said the Department of

Youth took the initiative to place Youth Development Fund (YDF) application forms at the kgotla for ease of access, but only a few had shown interest.

He said that the youth were the same people complaining about unemployment, yet were not doing enough to change that.

Kgosi Monyatsi said it was unfortunate that young people believed that opportunities were available only in the urban areas.

He suggested that sensitising them on the opportunities available in rural areas and the challenges of rural-urban migration might help.

Mr Batshu appealed to parents to work with government and encourage their children to apply for programmes meant to assist them.

Mr Batshu also informed residents that Parliament amended the Land Policy of 2015 to allow couples to individually own plots.

He said they should use this to their advantage and turn other plots into businesses that would earn them money. ENDS
