Lobatse holds open day

The third edition of the annual Lobatse District Open Day and Poverty Eradication Exposition will be held today. The event, spearheaded by the office of Deputy District Commissioner in Lobatse, is aimed at providing to government departments, parastatals and beneficiaries of the poverty eradication programme in the town, a one stop platform to showcase their services and products.
Chairperson of the event’s organizing committee, Mr Siyani Mbisana outlined in an interview that approximately 40 government departments and parastatals were expected to have stalls on the day to showcase their services.
He said some businesses which benefitted from the poverty eradication programme would also showcase their products.
“The purpose of the event is to give service providers in Lobatse an opportunity to interact with the public and share information about their products.
We believe that this kind of interaction can make service delivery become much more efficient,” Mr Mbisana said.
He stated that the response from both the public and service providers in the past two editions had been good.
“The interest on the event was good from the public. The people were happy with the information availed to them. We expect this year to be successful as well,” he added.
He urged the community of Lobatse to attend the event in large numbers.
The event venue is the open space near the Hillside Mall.
He said the day’s proceedings will commence at 8:30 o’clock in the morning, followed by public viewing of stalls.
The theme of the event is; Holistic Approach to Effective Service Delivery and the chief executive officer of Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA), Ms Rose Seretse will be the guest speaker. ENDS
