Visualise a high income economy - Tsogwane

13 Aug 2019

Orapa Junior Secondary School pupils have been encouraged to envision a high income economy since they were drivers of vision 2036.

Vice President Slumber Tsogwane told learners during a visit to the school recently that they were the future drivers of the economy and urged them to give their best.

“We want the people who will drive this knowledge based economy amongst you,” he said.

Mr Tsogwane encouraged pupils to be committed to their studies as there was no future without excellence.

Noting that “a man’s future is his character,” the vice president  emphasised that their behaviour must demonstrate they were part of Botswana’s national value system.

Mr Tsogwane commended the school for scooping position one in the Junior Certificate results countrywide, saying the trophy they won was testimony to high performance.

He noted that the school’s performance proved that the country was going to be driven by science and technology.

The high performance spoke a lot about learners’ capacity, ability and commitment to their work. The Orapa JSS school head, Ms Kolobetso Seabe said they prided themselves in excellence in everything they did.

She said the school had decided to hold extra lessons in the morning and after school to maintain the excellent performance.

Ms Seabe commended the non-teaching staff and the school’s Parents Teachers Association for being supportive.

She thanked government for acceding to the school’s requests saying a new kitchen, financed through Constituency Development Fund was under construction as well as two-classroom block funded by Debswana. Ends
