Willow Green International School in Mahalapye appreciates the support of volunteer teachers who are instrumental in achieving its mandate of providing quality education.

Funded by CEDA to the tune of P2.6 million, the school admits learners from pre to primary level.

Its owners, Mr Letsibogo Mosekwa and his wife, Ms Mogi Mosekwa, revealed during a media tour organised by CEDA recently, that the school had received overwhelming support from the community of Mahalapye.

Most of the preschool assistant teachers, Ms Mosekwa said were graduate volunteers.

“As a new player in the education sector we appreciate their support because we offer them an allowance which does not match their qualifications,” she said.

Briefing the media, Ms Mosekwa said the school had to date, admitted 120 pupils for preschool and 135 for primary level.

Despite that there was another private school operation in Mahalapye, Ms Mosekwa believed he school offered a package that was appealing to the community and as such, registering learners was never a hustle.

“As we speak, we have closed registration for pre-school and standard one because our classes are full but we continue receiving calls from parents who are eager to register their children at our school,” she said.

The school which has an employ of 28 offers music, computers and physical education as full subjects.

“We also offer Chinese and French which are taught by locals,” she said.

Ms Mosekwa said eight pupils would be sitting for PSLE examinations at the end of the year.

Other than academics, she said the school performed well in sporting activities.

“We got position one in the athletics competitions that were held in Francistown,” she said.

As it is the case with many other private schools, Ms Mosekwa complained about parents who fall behind with tuition fees.

“Even though we have a payment plan, we still have a challenge of debtors. This is a serious challenge affecting our income,” she said and explained that they were still servicing their CEDA loan and that tuition fees  were their primary source of income. Ends
