Local diamond company, Zebra Diamond has constructed an ablution block for Ramotswa based Thuto Boswa Rehabilitation Centre.

The ablution block was constructed to specifically cater for learners living with disabilities such as those using wheelchairs.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony recently, Zebra Diamond factory manager, Mr Charl Niemand said the company’s relationship with Thuto Boswa started in 2015 with the donation of poultry cages and a computer laboratory.

“We have been humbled to see how the lives of the children have been positively affected by small contributions we have made,” he stated.

He said the ablution block brought to P100 000, the amount of money that the company had spent on the school this year, adding that they also donated sport apparel for the children’s Special Olympics games.

Thuto Boswa board chairperson Mr Tshekiso Mokgatle said the centre was privileged by the continued support and its relationship with Zebra Diamond.

He stated that the donation from the diamond company had moved them closer to fulfilling government’s accreditation criteria.

He stated that the donated toilets would offer the learners privacy as they would no longer need assistance when using them.

Mr Mokgatle stated that the rehabilitation centre had many needs, among them lack of funds to develop its new plot.

He said they desired to offer hospitality courses to their leaners to make them more marketable and assist them to possess life skills.

Earlier, Kgosi Tsimane Mokgosi said Thuto Boswa had been at the forefront of assisting and supporting people living with disabilities with life skills.

He said the village leadership acknowledged and recognised the significant role played by the school management together with the board of governors in empowering people living with disabilities.

Kgosi Mokgosi stated that people living with disabilities in most cases faced different kinds if abuse from the community, hence the need for them to be empowered and protected.

The school executive director, Mr Dickinson Samaemo said Thuto Boswa was open for members of the public as they needed all kinds of assistance.

Therefore, he said a donation such as the one by Zebra Diamond allowed the community and parents to interact with the school management and realise that their contribution was needful. ENDS
