Official salutes Moshupa DC staff
05 Aug 2019
Administrator in the Moshupa/Manyana constituency office, Mr Lebatla Kenosi, has commended office of the district commissioner staff for heeding government’s call to provide shelter to Batswana.
He was speaking on behalf of the area MP and also Assistant Minister of Trade, Investment and Industry, Mr Karabo Gare, during official handover of a three-roomed house to Keelediwe family in Moshupa recently.
He said their selflessness and dedication made it possible for them to deliver such a project.
“I am convinced that this generous donation was made possible by the staff selflessness and true humanitarian love for the improvement of the living standard of the family,” he said.
Mr Kenosi urged the family to take good care of the house, saying it would go a long way in boosting their self-esteem and give them a sense of appreciation within the community.
He acknowledged the contribution of other stakeholders such as the business community and Moshupa brigade students who were engaged during the house construction.
“This house was undertaken and completed by staff contributions and with pledges from private sector both financially and in kind. Approximately, P60 000 was used in construction of the house.
This is a commendable gesture that should be highlighted and encouraged,” Mr Kenosi said.
Giving an overview of the project, acting deputy district commissioner for Moshupa, Mr Aaron Mafokate, said the plan was conceptualised in 2015 when they found out the need for one of their then intern staff.
He said they managed to complete the house after going through various challenges, mostly money-related.
“We used individual contributions and embarked on various fundraising activities for the project to be finally completed. We also applaud the business community and individuals who responded positively to our request for donations,” he said. Mr Mafokate thanked Moshupa brigade management and students for having been partners in the project throughout the bumpy journey and applauded them for their patience and cooperation.
Kgosi Mothusinyana Mochankana said the philanthropic spirit shown by the staff should be emulated by other departments and organisations.
He said all those who contributed towards the project would be blessed because they were serving God.
He appealed to the beneficiaries to take care of the house so that it could also benefit the coming generations.
A representative of the family, Ms Motlhogi Keelediwe, said she was elated by the good gesture.
She also thanked other stakeholders for the various contributions. ENDS
