Chinese chamber of commerce donates to Boteti

04 Aug 2019

Botswana Chinese general chamber of commerce has donated 500 blankets to Boteti residents.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Vice President, Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, who is also MP for Boteti West, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe said the gesture was a generous and commendable move that would make a difference in the lives of the marginalised and less privileged.

He said Botswana was cognizant of the fact that against the collective resolve of the nation, there were some segments of the population that were disadvantaged and marginalised.  He said they deserved targeted attention.

Mr Lelatisitswe said to ensure that no one was left behind, government was addressing the challenges of poverty and destitution through various programmes and projects that targeted the vulnerable and less privileged members of society.

Furthermore, he made it known that government alone could not adequately provide for the needy, and he called on the private sector and other stakeholders to help turn the situation around.

Welcoming guests, the associations chairperson, Mr Wande Feng said they had the obligation to participate and integrate with the community and to help the less privileged in order to promote social and economic development.

He said the Chinese Chamber of Commerce knows the need to integrate with the local community while at the same time uplifting their lives so that they enjoyed better life like other developed countries.

The association has made numerous donations including donating to Matsha pupils who had an accident, donating to SOS villages and as well as the Presidential Housing Appeal.

He pledged the association’s continuous support as a way towards Botswana’s long term Vision 2036. Ends
