Minimum wage rates for building, construction and exploration and quarry industry, manufacturing, service and repair trades, hotel, catering and entertainment trades, garage, motor trades and road transport wholesale distributive trade and security guards increased by 78 per cent from 2009 to 2019. 

This was said by Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo.

 Nkange MP, Mr Edwin Batshu  had asked the minister to provide a comparative table of what was the minimum wage in 2009/2010 financial year and the current status in 2019/2020 financial year. 

He wanted to know the total percentage increase between the periods. Mr Mabeo said the minimum wage rates for distributive trade, domestic sector and agricultural sector increased by 82 per cent, 98.4 per cent and 145.1 per cent respectively 

He said the comparative table for minimum wage rates for the different trades or sectors from 2009 to 2019 were available. ENDS
