Police are investigating a fatal accident in which a man of an unknown age was certified dead upon arrival at the local clinic after the vehicle in which he and four others were travelling in overturned on August 2 morning.

Pandamatenga police station commander, Superintendent Nelson Museke said in an interview that the accident occurred around 8:45am along the newly tarred Pandamatenga showground road.

He said it was suspected that the Toyota Nadia, which had five people on board, overturned when the driver lost its control and the vehicle chucked them out.

Supt. Museke said two of the five men who were on board sustained minor injuries, the other two were admitted at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital and Kasane Primary Hospital respectively with serious injuries while the fifth died.

“The driver of the vehicle was referred to Nyangabgwe hospital,” he said.

It is alleged that victims worked at Pandamatenga Farms and their ages ranged between 20 and 30.

Supt. Museke appealed to drivers to be vigilant on the road as it was slippery and had a lot of curves.

He further advised road users to adhere to speed limits. ENDS
