Elderly PLWDs deserve respect - Lelatisitswe

Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe has emphasised government’s dispensation that the elderly and people living with disability (PLWD), be given special treatment.
Speaking during a community service day for the elderly and people living with disability in Letlhakane recently, Mr Lelatisitswe urged the elderly to advise government on the challenges they encountered when trying to access government services.
Kgosi Keletshwaretse Phetsogang of Mmatshumo expressed displeasure with members of the public who ill-treated PLWDs, adding that sporting activities for PLWDs should be accessible to them.
An elder, Mr Galetlwaelwe Gabontshwe complained of poor service when pensioners get paid while former councilor, Mr Boitumelo Molwalefe who is also blind said he was told he did not qualify for disability allowance and he was assessed.
He said PLWDs should be treated with compassion, regardless of their family background.
PLWDs he said like the able bodied had ambitions.
For his part, Boteti Sub-district commissioner, Mr Ewetss Selelo said all pensioners should not que for services , adding that he would address areas where such was not implemented.
Primary health care manager, Ms Batho Rampana explained that the PLWDs were usually assessed and accorded services they qualified for but those enrolled in schools were not given disability stipend. Ends
