BIUST bids council chairperson farewell

Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) has bid farewell the outgoing council chairperson, Mr Bernard Bolele, who joined the council in 2014.
BIUST chancellor, Dr Festus Mogae appreciated Mr Bolele’s contribution in developing the university.
Dr Mogae said Mr Bolele, who is an attorney by profession, added value to the university.
He said he looked forward to seeing the vice chancellor and the team taking the university to greater heights.
The former president stated that he hoped to see BIUST engage another board chair who was as competent as Mr Bolele.
He wished Mr Bolele the best in his political career journey as an aspiring member of parliament for Mahalapye West.
The university vice chancellor, Professor Otlogetswe Totolo said Mr Bolele emphasised the need to build strong relations with key stakeholder and strengthen collaborations.He said Mr Bolele ensured that BIUST was a university of high stature that engaged in dialogue, produced exceptional graduates and grew its research portfolio.Professor Totolo hailed Mr Bolele for the key role he played in ensuring the crafting of strategic partnerships, to establish a consensual agenda that was both ambitious and mutually beneficial.
He added that Mr Bolele also propelled BIUST to engage the private sector more as a destination for its graduates, the beneficiary of the university’s research and innovation and as a source of funding.
For his part, Mr Bolele expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the institution.
He said he amassed a wealth of knowledge both academically and professionally.Mr Bolele further said he was acquainted and educated on the expectations of the nation, government and the university community in the execution of his duties as a member of the council while deputy vice chancellor, Dr Happy Fidzani thanked Mr Bolele for the commitment and dedication in developing BIUST.
