The effect of non-communicable diseases on the workforce is a serious concern, Letshego Serowe branch manager, Mr Tshepho Tsalaile has said.
Mr Tsalaile, who was a chief walker at the Serowe Institute of Health Sciences sponsored walk and wellness day recently, said the 10km walk was a demonstration of personal commitment to preventing diseases and encourage health and wellbeing.
He said stress was another enemy associated with chronic diseases.
“Work demands and various situations require utmost attention to our personal life and wellbeing,” he said.
He said it was time to reflect and take stock of one’s lifestyle and choices related to one’s health.
Mr Tsalaile stated that human resource needed to be nurtured since productivity was dependent on good health.
Often times, he said, people neglected their health yet there should be a balance between health, wellbeing and productivity.
Serowe HIS principal, Ms Tebogo Morolong explained that the sponsored walk was to raise funds to visit Chobe National Park in December.
She said they also intended to visit Kasane hospital where they would donate to patients and also donate sanitary pads to inmates. IHS adopted Majwanaadipitse in the Central District whom they celebrate independence day with and also during which time select a family to donate to. Ends
