Vehicles recalled for optimal equitable use

28 Jul 2019

Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Basic Education, Mr Thato Kwerepe has told Parliament that two vehicles allocated to Mabutsane Sub-district schools were recalled to Kanye for optimal and equitable use within the region.

Mr Kwerepe, however, noted that he was not aware that the decision to recall the two vehicles had negatively affected the performance of schools, and explained that performance in a majority of schools within the sub-district had improved.

The two recalled vehicles, he said, were a 65 seat bus and a truck from Mogale.

Mr Kwerepe said an administrative decision was taken to centralise trucks and buses to the region to ensure equitable, optimal use and sharing of resources by all sub-regions because the south region had limited number of buses, trucks and water bowsers.

Furthermore, Mr Kwerepe said the buses and trucks served the Mabutsane Sub-region where there was need and only Mogale Junior Secondary School has been affected by the arrangement.

Jwaneng/Mabutsane MP, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile had asked the minister if he was aware that some vehicles allocated to Mabutsane Sub-District schools were recalled to Kanye and as a result performance of schools in the sub-district was affected. Ends
