Overtime not budgeted this financial year
28 Jul 2019
A total of P11.8 million is owed to some immigration officers stationed at border gates as overtime payment from Febuary 2019 to June 2019.
Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Mr Ngaka Ngaka said the ministry could not pay overtime allowance because it was not budgeted for this financial year.
He said his ministry had sourced funds through savings to process payment of overtime for the period of February to April 2019 that amounted to P7 million.
The MP for Mochudi East, Mr Moagi Molebatsi had asked the minister to state how much overtime was owed to immigration department staff at all the border posts and when would it be paid.
Still in Parliament the minister said the Citizenship Amendment Bill dealing with dual citizenship had been put on hold for further consultations because it had been observed that dual citizenship would affect 34 pieces of legislations.
He was also responding to MP Mr Molebatsi who had asked if the ministry would allow dual citizenship to citizens over 21 years and if so when. Ends
