No plans to increase committees allowance

Although government appreciates the voluntary work and its contribution by village/ward development committees (VDC/WDCs), there are has no plans to increase their allowance.
Answering a question in Parliament on July 24, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said the village/ward development committees were voluntary committees that received allowances, which were increased effective April.
He was answering a question from Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa who had asked the minister if there were any plans to increase allowances given to ward development committees in consideration of their commitment to the development of the country. ENDS
