Task team report on mine viability out
23 Jul 2019
The task team, which was set up to delineate assets from liabilities and look into the commercial viability of BCL and Tati Nickel mine presented its findings on July 5, 2019.
Minister of Minerals Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Mr Eric Molale, said the team was given June 30 as the deadline looking at the magnitude of the work to be done.
He said he was still consulting internally to further refine the recommendations of the task team before briefing Parliament and the public accordingly.
Mr Molale told Parliament on July 22 that as he had previously reported, the task team was formed to assist government in making an informed decision on disposal of assets.
He said he was encouraged by the results as it was now clear, which assets had the potential to deliver value to attract investment.
Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister to give update on the process of re-opening of Tati Nickel mine, if any. ENDS
