Plan to address water supply challenges

Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi says his ministry has plans to address the water supply challenges for various villages in Tati East, Tati West and Nkange constituencies.

Mr Moipisi said the upgrading of the North East District and Tutume sub-District P300 million water supply scheme project would be funded under the World Bank. Furthermore, he said the design and tender document of the project were completed in May 2019.

He explained that procurement for the construction works was scheduled to commence during the fourth week of July 2019 for completion in November 2019. The award of the construction was anticipated in November 2019 and in December 2019 the contractor would be mobilising. Therefore, construction was planned for 15 months with commencement in January 2020 for completion in June 2021.

Nkange MP, Mr Edwin Batshu had asked the minister to give an update on the progress of the North East District and Tutume sub-District water supply upgrading project funded by the World Bank group, and when the project would be completed. ENDS
