Women police donate to ailing colleague

19 Aug 2013

Sir Seretse Khama Airport (SSKA) women police network have donated P10 000 to their ailing colleague, Constable Gaositege Leepile.

The money will cover medical expenses for Constable Leepile stationed at Mogoditshane police. Constable Leepile was diagnosed with a kidney problem and had to undergo a kidney transplant procedure worth P1 million.

Handing over the donation on behalf of the Commissioner of Police last week, Senior Assistant Commissioner Foreman Baganetswe expressed gratitude towards the gesture displayed by the officers.

Mr Baganetswe said giving moral and financial support to their colleague was a compassionate gesture that indicated that the police were not only focused in fighting crime but also had a social responsibility of helping those in need. He added that gesture gave hope towards the attainment of the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation.

Thus, he urged other police units to emulate the SSKA women police network and encouraged them to extend the spirit to other members of the public.

The donation was the second social responsibility project to Leepile by Botswana Police Service personnel following a P72 500 donation in 2011. Ends
