The Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and sanitation Services, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi, has told Parliament that Tutume-Sub-land board has allocated a total of 43 residential plots and 123 ploughing fields in eight villages in the North East since January this year.
The villages, according to Mr Moipisi include, Makuta, Nkange, Goshwe, Matobo, Tutume, Senete, Changate, Dagwi and Maitengwe.
Mr Moipisi said the plots were allocated under special dispensation/affirmative action.
He further told Parliament that the last allocations for Goshwe and Senete, at which no allocations were made during the period in question were in October and November respectively.
Mr Moipisi said there were 16 198 applications for residential plots on the waiting list at Tutume saying land board did not have a waiting list for ploughing fields.
He was responding to MP for Nkange Mr Edwin Batshu who had asked the minister to state how many residential plots and ploughing fields were allocated by the Tutume Sub-Land Board since January 2019 to date for above villages.
He also wanted to know how many applications were on the waiting list. Ends
