Lack of land hinders Gaborone allocations
16 Jul 2019
Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi, says there is no date for the next allocation of residential plots in Gaborone due to unavailability of land.
He said depending on the availability of plots, the next allocation would start from as far back as 1990.
“My ministry has acquired land in Kweneng Tribal area (Area around Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, Ledumadumane and Mmopane) to augment land in Gaborone. However, the land is still to be planned, surveyed and serviced before it can be allocated,” he said.
He was answering a question from Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskings Nkaigwa who had asked the minister when the next allocation of plots would be done in Gaborone. Mr Nkaigwa also asked what was being done to address shortage of land in Gaborone. Ends
