The President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi is expected to officially open the Serowe agricultural show scheduled for August 6 to 11, 2019.

 The show committee vice chairperson Mr Anthony Phokoletso said preparations for the show were at an advanced stage.

In an interview Mr Phokoletso said the committee had done their best and promised it would be a show to be remember.

The Show will be held under the theme: Agriculture, Gateway to Security, Health and citizen Empowerment.’

Mr Phokoletso stated that they had added new activities to the event line-up such as horse and dog racing. Among the various activities that would feature, Mr Phokoletso said would be livestock and agricultural produce.

Entertainment by various groups has been lined-up.

‘‘There will be prominent farmers coming from all corners of the country as well as in the central district to compete with their counterparts in Serowe,’’ he stated. He said the show would bring farmers together to exchange farming skills through networking and benchmarking, adding that 2018 had been a difficult year for the farming community, particularly arable farmers.Mr Phokoletso noted that the show sought to create a platform for appreciation of Botswana’s agricultural talent and bounty, promote greater commercialisation of farming activities and provide a healthy competitive environment for farmers.

The objectives of the event are to generate interest in farmers and bring them together to improve agricultural activities.

He also added that they have invited all farmers in central district region and called upon farmers to

come in large numbers. ENDS
