The minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, Mr Eric Molale says his ministry has employed 23 people living with disabilities and does not have employees living with albinism. He said people living with disabilities were not discriminated against in employment and expressed optimism that the Botswana "will meet the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No.8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth by 2030, to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all.”
Mr Molale said the target was expected to be met by 2030 and interventions would be reviewed during NDP 11 and 12 to ensure compliance. He was responding to a question from specially elected MP, Mr Mephato Reatile who had wanted to know how many people living with albinism and other disabilities were employed under his ministry. Mr Reatile also wanted to know whether the number of people employed met the country’s target of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No.8 . ENDS
