Former Ikhutseng Primary School pupil, Serena Molefabangwe, was the centre of attention at the 2018 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) excellence awards in Francistown recently.
Serena, who emerged the overall 2018 PSLE pupil, won categories of the best pupil in Mathematics, Science and in Social Studies.
In all the categories, Serena received a certificate, tuition, trophy and prize money.
Now a pupil at Donga Junior Secondary School, Serena advised her peers to never give up on their studies, adding that they should not only read their notes, but study past papers and research more.
Serena said she lived by the motto: When you Have a Setback, Don’t Take a Step Back, Make a Comeback. Her mother, Ms Kenosi Molefabangwe-Lewis, said her daughter’s hard work was impressive.
She said it was important for parents to give their children parental care and support them during examination time.
Motivational speaker and CRACKiT Tuition Botswana north regional manager, Mr Thapelo Johane, applauded the class of 2017 and 2018 for a job well done.
He promised that CRACKiT would offer pupils free tuition until they finished their studies.
He said it was only through self-determination, hard work and perseverance that one could achieve desired goals.
He urged pupils to be motivated whilst at the same time reviving the culture of reading in order to be successful in their school work and to treat all the challenges as learning curves.
Mr Johane pleaded with parents to allow stakeholders to participate in their children’s education.
“Give the children the chance to choose what they want in their education life,” he implored.
He said it was important for parents to also consider home schooling for children that strugged at school.
Moreover, Mr Johane revealed that one of CRACKiT mandates was to bridge the gap between home schooling and mainstream schooling.
The 2018 best performing schools went to Our Lady of the Desert Primary School which scooped position one, Phase IV Primary School settling for position two while Phatsimo Primary School came third.
The best overall pupil of class 2017 PSLE went to Gigi Bopa.
Ikhutseng emerged the best performing school of 2017, while Phatsimo Primary School scooped second position and Lekgaba Hill Primary School came third. ENDS
