Women Rhinos walk over Ryders
19 Aug 2013
The weekend Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) B Division league games saw UB Rhinos thwarting their opponents Ryders 28-0 in the women’s encounter at Sir Seretse Khama Barracks.
The game between the two women’s sides was a walk over as UB Rhinos literally made mince meat of Ryders and tormented them with their pace throughout the encounter.
UB Rhinos had more strength and used their pace to outrun their opponents which saw them making three tries and conversions in the first half and another try and conversion in the second. In another game, Gaborone Hogs were completely annihilated by BCA Rams, losing 21-7.
Hogs’ loss came from their porous defence as they could not match the physical strength of their opponents. The women’s teams featured in the league games included BDF Cheetahs and BAC South.
In the men’s games, Ryders beat Jwaneng 19-0. Other men’s teams included BCA Rams, BAC North, EMG Gunners, BDF Cheetahs, BAC South, Hogs, Gideons and UB Rhinos. The division was used as a development league with outstanding players promoted to teams playing in the A Division.
A number of teams are in the A and B Divisions making it easy for players to go up the ladder. Ends
