Duo donates to resource centre
09 Jul 2019
Two young people, Ms Tshwetso Motlhabi and Ms Kamogelo Leagajang on July 6 donated 50 pair of shoes to 50 pupils of Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind.
The two said their gesture was inspired by the book of Galatians 6:2 in the Bible, which says “bear each other’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Speaking during an event to hand over the shoes, Ms Motlhabi and Ms Leagajang, who were both turning 27 years said the barefoot walk that they started the event with, was a way of carrying the burdens of people who were going through challenges.
However, Ms Motlhabi said it was not easy to collect the school shoes but they managed through determination.
She said the initial plan was to collect 54 shoes, but the school had only 50 pupils who were in need of assistance.
She thanked all who played a role in collecting shoes, socks, polishes and brushes, adding that the children would forever be grateful.
Mochudi Resource Centre for the Blind coordinator, Ms Tebatso Menyatso, said the centre that was a home for people with visual problems received assistance from government and individuals.
She said they taught the students orientation and mobility for them to be able to walk on their own and have a better life for themselves.
Ms Menyatso said they relied on donors to help their children and were happy about the donations.
She thanked Ms Motlhabi and her team for the gesture and urged others to be inspired and to become ambassadors of the centre to help the visually impaired that do not know about the centre.
Member of Parliament for Mochudi West, Mr Gilbert Mangole, encouraged the elders to support the youth in regards to community projects so they feel appreciated and motivated to do more.
Mr Mangole said having faith and working on it helped one achieve their goal.
