Malaka Primary School celebrates victory

Malaka Primary School in the Tswapong area on July 5 held a victory celebration.
The event was to celebrate the school’s impressive pass rate in the 2018 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) in which the school obtained a 96.3 per cent pass rate out of which 59.3 per cent obtained A and B.
The Permanent Secretary to the President, Mr Carter Morupisi who is a product and patron of the school, Ms Pinnie Morupisi and National Development
Bank former director, Ms Masego Makgoro joined in the celebrations.
Mr Morupisi applauded the staff for working together to achieve good results.
He thanked parents for working hand in hand with the school noting that the end results paid off.
Mr Morupisi advised pupils to always pay attention in class, respect their parents and teachers in order to do well in class.
Ms Makgoro, who is also a product of the school, commended teachers for the positive PSLE results.
She said team work and partnership with parents made it possible for the school to achieve good results.
Ms Makgoro encouraged the school to continue with the good work, noting that Botswana was part of the global community and needed to produce pupils who could be at par with rest of the world.
She urged parents to teach children respect and give them guidance and also mould them into responsible citizens.
For her part, the school head, Ms Ipelegeng Pasela, said the school had been performing well due to the support they received from parents, Mr Morupisi, the chief education officer and the PTA.
However, she said the school was not without challenges and those included shortage of teachers accommodation.
Despite that, the school obtained 88 per cent pass rate in in 2013, 77.2 per cent in 2014, 92.6 per cent in 2015 and 95.5 per cent pass rate in 2016 while in 2017 it obtained 92.9 per cent and 96.3 pass rate last year.ENDS
