Botswana under Gods grace

08 Jul 2019

Botswana is what it is because of the love of God, Gaborone Minister’s Fraternal chairperson, Lt. Col. Reuben Moatlhodi has said.

Through God’s love and guidance, visionary leaders led Botswana to where it was now with determination and hard work,  he said in his sermon during a combined church service ahead of the President’s Day celebrations on Sunday, July 7.

The service, organised by the Gaborone Ministers Fraternal in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, was graced by  President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and First Lady Neo Masisi.

“Our submission to God in humility, prayer in seeking his face and turning away from our wicked ways, will attract God’s attention,” he said.

For that reason, he said, it was the responsibility of Christians to stand in the gap, on behalf of all needing God’s touch and pray for their forgiveness and salvation.

Lt. Col. Moatlhodi challenged all Christians to ensure the lord remained the centre of their lives.

“As Christians, we should not look at ourselves only. We have to examine our lives and identify all that is ungodly, because we are here to influence the world for good by ensuring our good is evident for all to see,” he said.

He quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14, which says: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land.”

Welcoming the fraternal’s  former chairperson, Pastor Samuel Makhaola asked God to have mercy upon the nation of Botswana and forgive it for all its sins.

He also encouraged Batswana to continue praying and thanking God for peace and tranquility to continue prevailing in the country.

It was only through prayer that the lord would satisfy and fulfill all their needs, he said.

Ministers from different denominations took turns to give thanks and deliver intercessory prayers for the leadership, elections, rain as well as against social ills.

They included Bishop Mokalake Digalo of Apostol De-Olive Church’s, Rev. Malebogo Mothibi of UCCSA, Rev. John Seleke of Dutch Reformed Church, Evangelist Lesego Kabomo of Jacob’s Ladder Church and Rev.

Mmapula Agnes Molapisi of Mountain of Hebron Apostolic Church.

The ministers prayed to God to give President Masisi and the entire leadership of Botswana, wisdom, guidance and strength to lead the country to prosperity with peace and unity.

They also thanked God for his mercy and asked for his protection during the national elections period.

In addition, they asked God to heal and deliver the nation from all illnesses, pains and sorrows.

Meanwhile, church choirs and praise and worship teams spiced up the service with worship and praise songs.

Still at the service, more than P8 000 was collected and would go towards building a rehabilitation centre that the churches had pledged to build to give back to the nation.

Other dignitaries at the service were Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr Tshekedi Khama, Assistant Minister of

Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, Mr Moiseraele Goya, Permanent Secretary to the President, Mr Carter Morupisi and Chief Justice Terrence Rannowane. ENDS
