Mini-show exposes youth talents to market

08 Jul 2019

The Managing Director of Mokoka Transport, Mr Ndipo Mokoka has urged the Serowe Administrative Authority (SAA) authorities to rally behind upcoming local entrepreneurs in Serowe to afford them an opportunity to discover their talents and gain exposure.

He was speaking at the SAA social and community development department home economics division’s mini-show held in Serowe recently.

Mr Mokoka said the main idea behind the concept was to unearth young talent from all the districts across the country and give them exposure.

He explained that unemployment had become the order of the day for many young people, hence SAA’s decision to come up with something that could meaningfully engage out of school youth and accord them a platform to showcase their skills and talents as well as expose them to the market.

Mr Mokoka said the little money that those running small businesses got, enabled them to fend for themselves, adding that talent could help curb unemployment.

He said the youth must be developed and assisted to achieve quality life through their talents and contribute meaningfully to the economy of the country.

“We want to groom upcoming artistes so that they could fully utilise their talents and become visible in the market and earn a living,’’ he said.

For his part, SAA council chairperson, Mr Mpho Kooreme said Batswana youth were talented, but some did not have platforms to display what they have to offer.

He said council targeted out of school youth, including the visually impaired as a way of creating positive image of sport throughout the country by increasing popularity and awareness of the games and businesses. Also, he said mini-shows strengthen solidarity within the district, promote community spirit, peace and excellence.

“Business mini-shows have proved to be of importance as they unearth raw talent,” he said.

Mr Kooreme said the youth must take advantage of business competitions to showcase their talents. ENDS
