MP Khan explains his absence from constituency

08 Jul 2019

MP for Molepolole North, Mr Mohammed Khan, has cleared the air concerning his long absence in his constituency.

Addressing Goo-Thato ward constituents in a kgotla meeting recently, Mr Khan stated that he had not been visible in the constituency owing to his wife’s ill health.

Therefore, this meant that he could not discharge his duties efficiently and as a result his constituency suffered.

Giving an update on developments generally in Molepolole, Mr Khan said since he was elected, all the major developments they had been advocating for citing in particular Molepolole through road, severe water shortage, debilitating status of the health care system, sewage pipeline as well as the construction of a police station had not been done.

Funds for some projects, he said were diverted to other areas.

Therefore, he was of the view that government had failed Molepolole.

MP Khan further stated that topical issues in the village such as the water crisis were taking long to be resolved although funding had been secured, citing that it took 18 months to equip the six boreholes at Gaotlhobogwe-Malwelwe well fields.

He also said the then Water Utilities Corporation chief executive officer had promised in vain that Ga-Mononyane NSC water project would have been completed in April.

He promised constituents that he was expecting doctors from China to come and offer free medical consultation to the constituents.

He said he was expecting assistance from his international friends from China, Japan and other countries to help in education and build a youth centre in the constituency.

Responding to the MP’s remarks, some residents accepted his apology stating that they had been worried by his absence.

Other residents stated that developments lagging behind in Molepolole were still a thorn and advised the MP to not give in and continue advocating for potable running water as well as access roads.

Mr John Mmadintsi, one of the resident, encouraged Mr Khan to continue advocating for the poor status of health care facilities as well as shortage of drugs.

Mr Fane Masilo, a youth, said young people needed a recreational facility centre.

He said the Molepolole show grounds were underutilised although they could be used efficiently to profit Bakwena.  ENDS
