BERA employees donate to the needy in Peleng

08 Jul 2019

Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) employees have donated clothes, shoes and 21 blankets to needy people at Peleng location in Lobatse.

BERA chief executive officer, Ms Rose Seretse, on July 5 handed the donation to ward development committee (WDC) representatives from Peleng Central and Peleng West to distribute among their needy people.

She explained that BERA employees decided to offer a helping hand because they always viewed themselves as part of the community of Lobatse since they started operating in the town in 2017.

“Last year in December, BERA staff made collections of over P10 000 and bought Christmas hampers for six needy families identified through the Social & Community Development office. That showed that this organisation has love for this community and it has continued this year,” she said.

She promised that BERA would continue to assist in the socio-economic development of the town.

Expressing appreciation for the donation, Peleng West WDC chairperson, Mr Donald Mokgatla, said their township had many impoverished families that required assistance.

“We therefore found it proper to approach BERA for assistance and we thank you for listening to us,” he said.

Peleng Central WDC chairperson, Mr Phemelo Masisi also expressed gratitude for the gesture from BERA.

He pointed that the donation would bring significant difference to lives of the recipients. ENDS
