Botlogetswe in Lausanne today

Christine Botlogetswe will line up in the 400m Diamond League in Lausanne, Switzerland on Friday 5 at 8pm, where she is expected to continue with her good performance.

In her last Diamond League race, which was in Rabat, she dropped a Personal Best time of 50.48. However, Botlogetswe who has been doing well more especially in the last 100m of the race, has always ran in the relaxed mode in the  250m but attack in the remaining metres.

It remains to be seen how she will tackle some of the strong athletes like Niger’s Aminatou Seyni, who is now becoming a hot topic.

The line-up is made up of Shericka Jackson and Stephenie Ann McPherson from Jamaica, Bahraini track and field sprinter, Salwa Eid Naser, British sprinter Laviai Nielsen, and American Courtney Okolo Niger’s Aminatou Seyni and Polish Justyna ÅšwiÄ™ty-Ersetic.

Track and field analyst, Billy Tambula said with a field dominated by women who had broken the 51 seconds barrier already this year, the race would be interesting to watch.

He said all eyes would be on Botlogetswe, Jackson, Salwa and Aminatou adding that Botlogetswe met Naser and Aminatou twice in different races already this year and the trio were likely to finish in the same order as in Rabat Diamond League.

“I’m expecting Botlogetswe to continue where she left off and fight for a better time. If she records another Sub 51 then she is in the right track going to Doha with a sub 50 Personal Best, which will place her amongst the favourite,” he said.

Tambula said Jackson had recently dropped a convincing a PB of 49.78, hence it would be important to see how she would respond against her competitors. Ends
