03 Jul 2019

Kgosi Sekeinyana Ntshekisang of Lotlhakane East has last week applauded Kanye Sub-region school heads for picking litter in the village and donating toiletries to some needy Lotlhakane Primary School pupils.

Speaking to BOPA in an interview during the event, Kgosi Ntshekisang said it was crucial for public officers to lead by example.

He said their force of example glorified government and teachers who were, by virtue of their job, parent substitutes.

Kgosi Ntshekisang explained that the gesture also complemented government efforts to assist needy Batswana.

He encouraged other capable Batswana to assist those in need, adding that it was a noble thing to do.

He further added that the donation signified that their children were in safe hands at school.

Ketlogetswe Primary School head in Kanye, Mr Mopati Leatso explained that the donation, which included sanitary pads, soap bars, tooth paste and face cloths, was bought through their contributions.

He said they started with Lotlhakane, but wished to spread the gesture around schools in the sub-region and touch more lives in the future.

The Sub-region chairperson Mr Mompoloki Lore also applauded his colleagues for a job well done.

He said he was particularly impressed that they all pulled together in the same direction.

He said the gesture exhibited what cooperative efforts of individuals working together towards a common end could achieve.

Mr Lore, also school head at Mahikana Primary School in Kanye, said such activities helped knit them together into a formidable team of educators armed with a humble spirit of service.

He said the main objective was to create a platform where they could share ideas, experiences, insight and inspire their schools towards more achievements.

Lotlhakane Primary School head, Ms Cynthia Seelo for her part, explained that lack of sanitary towels adversely affected girls’ social confidence around school and distracted them from studies. Ends
