Botswana Police Service has been commended for their good Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

This was said by different speakers during the handing over of a house to the Charlie family in Taung recently, where the police had built a house for the children of deceased Mr and Ms Charlie who worked for Botswana Police Service.

First to commend the police staff was Balete deputy chief, Kgosi Tsimane Mokgosi, who said the donation was done out of love and care. 

He said a house would provide shelter to the family and afford them a dignified life.

Kgosi Mokgosi said it was commendable that the police staff continued to assist those in need, noting that the donation was also a blessing to the givers. South East district commissioner, Ms Sebokwana Dikgope said that what the police had done, was a lesson to the entire public service.

She stated that the police used to be one of the most feared organisation, but had now changed to be an organisation of peace, love and comfort.

She encouraged the police to continue with their benevolent gesture and be exemplary to others. 

Botswana Police Service deputy commissioner, Mr David Mosetse said provision of accommodation formed one of the basic needs for humanity something which they were well aware of.

A good shelter, he said, afforded a family dignity, hence the decision to build a house for one of their former employees.

He said their service was on behalf of the community hence they took pride in being part of the community and encouraged residents to help them deliver on their mandate. 

The community, he said, had the right to quality service and should always get feedback about the police service.

Mr Mosetse noted that cyber-crime was beginning to replace conventional crime and appealed to parents to keep an eye on what their children were doing on social media. 

The house estimated at P270 000, features two bedrooms, kitchen, toilet, bathroom and sitting room as well as an outside toilet and water tank. Ends
