Ministry to install geysers at Liswaani Secondary School

02 Jul 2019

Ministry of Basic Education has sourced funds amounting to P447 000 from the community constituency development fund for the installation of geysers at Liswaani I Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Kachikau.

This was said by Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso when responding to a question at Ntlo ya Dikgosi from Kgosi Peter Chika of Chobe region.

She said the project was commissioned on June 13, 2019, for a duration of eight weeks.

Geysers for pupils hostels at Chobe JSS in Kasane, the assistant minister said, would be installed during the financial year 2019/2020, adding that there was no junior secondary school at Parakarungu.

“My ministry has constructed a boundary wall for Chobe JSS during the financial year 2014/2015 which was vandalised by elephants.

In Liswaane, my ministry had erected a palisade fence in the front end of the school which was also vandalised by elephants,” she said.

For Chobe JSS, she said the ministry had since built a 2.4 metre high boundary wall and would source funds to build a similar high boundary wall for Liswaani JSS by the 2020/21 financial year.

Kgosi Chika had asked if the minister would consider installing new geysers for pupils hostels and teacher’s houses at Kasane, Kachikau and Parakarung Junior Secondary Schools as the current ones were not working.

He also wanted to know whether the minister would consider constructing a new wall for Kasane and Kachikau JSS as wild animals roamed the school premises. ENDS
