Ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services does not elect Dikgosi into Land Boards. 

This was said by the Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi, when responding to a question at Ntlo ya Dikgosi, from Kgosi David Toto II of Kgalagadi South region.

“The Tribal Land Act CAP.32:02 (Amendment of Schedule) Order of 2011 published on March 18, 2011, makes provision for the membership of the land boards. 

Paragraph 2, Sub-paragraph (d) of the Order automatically appoints Kgosi or Moemela Kgosi as members of the land boards,” he said.

The determination of who should represent bogosi at land boards, the minister said was normally done by Tribal Administration at the concerned districts. 

Kgosi Toto II had asked Mr Moipisi to explain the criteria used to elect dikgosi into land boards and to further explain which ranks of dikgosi were considered for the positions. Ends
