Olopeng thanks residents for compassion

 Tonota residents have been applauded for assisting one of their own.

Speaking during official handing over of a house, built through contributions from the community and the village development committee, the area Member of Parliament, Mr Thapelo Olopeng commended residents for being compassionate.

He said this was not because they had plenty, but wanted to show love.“God did not wait to have another child, but gave his only begotten son for he loved the world,” he said

Mr Olopeng pledged P600 to buy groceries for the recipient.

He encouraged the community to search for others with similar challenges so that they too could be assisted.Area councillor, Mr Chrisjan Machokoto, stated that the presence of the community at the handing over ceremony showed love and commitment towards helping others.

He said it was important for communities to meet government half way in improving lives of those in need.Mr Machokoto appreciated the MP and the community for making the project a reality.

For his part, Kgosi Mogae Ramosesane said the beneficiary, Mr Monametsi Ntekola, was now going to live a better life.

And VDC deputy chairperson, Ms Neo Moepeng, explained that after discovering that Mr Ntekola had no toilet, they offered to build him one and later decided to also build him a house since the one he was living in was dilapidated.

She thanked all those who played a role in the project.

Mr Ntekola appreciated the gift and promised to take good care of the house.He encouraged the community to continue assisting since there were many in need. ENDS
